What is wood veneer?
Veneer is a thin layer of real wood bonded to a stable core like MDF. You get real grain, real color variation, and the feel of wood, without the cost and movement of solid lumber.
Valora Decor panels use real wood veneer on the front and both sides of each slat, over an MDF core with acoustic felt backing.
What is a PVC or film panel?
These panels use a printed plastic layer that imitates wood grain. Some are fully PVC; others wrap a printed film over MDF. The print repeats, and on many budget panels only the front face is finished.

Why the slat sides matter
On a vertical slat wall, you see the sides of the slats from almost every angle, not just the front. If only the face is finished, the sides can show a different color or a raw edge. That's the most common thing people notice when comparing panels in person.
When PVC makes sense
PVC can be the right choice for damp areas like bathrooms or for a tight budget. For living rooms, bedrooms, offices and commercial interiors where the wall is the centerpiece, real veneer usually looks and feels noticeably better.
How to check before you buy
- Look at the slat sides, not just the front.
- Look for repeating patterns across several panels.
- Ask what the core and backing are made of.
- Best of all, see the panels in person.
